After a dominating week 1 performance over Washington State, BYU will host another WSU. This week’s opponent is Weber State University.
What we know about Weber State (0-1)
The Weber State University (#tWSU on Twitter) Wildcats hail from Ogden, Utah, and are members of the Big Sky (FCS) conference. Last year, the team went 5-6, with wins against a bunch of schools you’ve never heard of, except one. BYU and tWSU shared a common opponent last season: Idaho State. The Wildcats beat the Bengals 39-12, while BYU’s performance was even better at 56-3. Weber State losses from last season include a few more familiar foes, including Wyoming and Utah State. Wyoming won a close game on a touchdown pass with just 22 seconds remaining, while Utah State won handily, 54-17.
Last week, tWSU lost to Fresno State 37-10. The Bulldogs held the Wildcats to just 67 rushing yards on 29 attempts. If Fresno can do that…
BYU had a great game against Washington State last week. The team showed great energy and fire in all three phases of the game, and they will be ready to play again this week. No doubt many people are more excited about the game coming up the week after this, but this week should be a great chance to work out any scheme issues revealed by Washington State and get some good playing time for the non-starting players. The biggest deal for BYU this week is to avoid injury.
Keys to the game
Um…show up. I don’t care if it’s the third stringers that show up.
Prediction
Weber State isn’t nearly as bad as Idaho State, but BYU is a much better team this year than they were last year, so I’m going to predict a similar result. BYU wins in dominating fashion: 52-6.
Great stuff bro
Thanks! I don’t spend a whole lot of time on the FCS opponent weeks…but I’ll definitely have more to write about next week!
