News continues to grow stronger about the possibility of Koy Detmer, Jr. playing for BYU. Detmer is the nephew of former BYU All-American, Heisman Trophy winner, and NFL veteran Ty Detmer and is the son of Colorado Buffalo quarterback and NFL veteran Koy Detmer.
Koy Jr. will playing his junior season at Somerset High School (San Antonio, TX) this fall. His sophomore campaign was impressive as he threw for more than 2,000 yards and 31 TDs with only 6 INTs. At Somerset he is being coached by his grandpa, Sonny, who was also the head coach for Ty in San Antonio and for Koy in Mission, TX in their high school careers.
While he has not been officially offered yet, Detmer has mentioned on his twitter account (@LiTTLe_Koy14) that he is being recruited by BYU, Baylor, and North Texas, with BYU currently being his number #1. He plans to attend several camps including the Y.
At 5’11” and 150 pounds there is certainly room for growth (in more ways than one), but after you watch the highlight video below you’ll see that there is undeniably a Detmer in that frame.
You can watch his sophomore highlights here, courtesy of http://www.texashsfootball.com:

Nice
I believe Grandfather Detmer’s name is Sonny, not “Lonny”.
